How we check casino licences

Big Licence is an independent English-language guide to casino licences for UK readers. It is not a casino or a regulator, takes no bets and holds no money.

What we check first

Every casino goes through a register check. The company that runs the casino is taken from the casino's own terms, then looked up in the regulator's public register. The licence entry found there has to match that company or its licence number.

Big Licence is not connected to the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority, the Curacao Gaming Authority, Anjouan Gaming, the Gibraltar Gambling Division or any casino. The regulators' logos appear for reference only, as each regulator's own public website serves them. They do not mean an endorsement or a partnership.

How our team tests casinos

This page describes how the team works. Our team tests casinos and checks every fact on every page. For each licence regime the team reads the regulator's own pages, rules and public register and copies the exact words it relies on. Every page is written by the Big Licence team, and no named person is set.

No page states a payout or a timing that a named source does not give. A fact with no source is left out. Where the regulator's pages do not answer a question, the page says so in plain words where the fact would sit. Each page shows one date, Last updated, in its byline.

What stops a casino being listed

A casino stays off the site in either of these cases:

  • The register has no matching entry.
  • No company can be sourced.

Big Licence gives no legal advice, no advice to gamble and no guarantee that a licensed casino will pay. It never describes a way around the UK self-exclusion scheme. The legal entity behind the site is not decided yet.

If you think we are wrong

If a fact on this page or any other page is wrong, email info@biglicence.co.uk and name the page and the line concerned. When a regulator changes a rule, or a fact here is wrong, the team reads the regulator's own page or register again and corrects the page.
